Appling Middle School

The mission of the Appling Middle School Guidance and Counseling Program is to provide a comprehensive, preventive, and needs-based program that focuses on the needs of all students. Such a program gives consideration to individual differences, including ethnicity, gender, abilities, backgrounds, disabilities, interests, homes, and community orientations. Realizing that the students are the product of their environments, the school counseling program strives to effect (through community and total school involvement) information, communication, and other resources to acquire or build skills to improve students' total potentials. The quantity and quality of the school-counseling program is essential to the well development of all students socially, emotionally, and academically. The middle school program must give students a healthy foundation to solve problems, to deal with conflicts, to make decisions, and to set goals. The counselor's program is, therefore, not a solo program, but one that works with the school and community to enhance the well-being and worth of each client. This program focuses on preparing each student to be a healthy, safe, happy, and productive citizen. This program prepares students for careers and the world of work. Finally, the counseling program at Appling Middle School strives to build life-long learners equipped with the tools to succeed in an ever-changing, technological world.
